Dear Colleagues,

The SUNY Office of Library and Information Services and the CUNY Office of Library Services are pleased to announce a new e-mail list for information sharing on Open Educational Resources (OER). The purpose of this list is for SUNY and CUNY faculty, librarians, instructional designers, and other interested staff, to share their experiences, best practices, resources, and thoughts on OER.

To subscribe, just link to this page in Open SUNY Affordable Learning Solutions and click the Subscribe button:

I am the list moderator; please contact me if you have any questions about the list or any problems subscribing.

I look forward to interesting and informative OER discussions between SUNY and CUNY!

Thanks for the information on the converter for SWF videos. The site you suggested offers several options for an SWF converter. I will try one out and report back to the group.

So basicly with Screencast-O-Matic you will perform a screen capture of a screencapture that will produce an MP4 file that you can caption.

I have used this site with quite a bit of success.

However it really depends on what you captured in your JING.

Another thing  have done is use Screencast-O-Matic and set it up to record while I was manually clicking through the Jing.  This way it captures everything.

someone was asking about a Converter for SWF to MP4

i asked a videographer friend and here is his response:

Converting from SWF has always been a bit tricky since it's not exactly a video format per se (it could be a Shockwave Flash game, for instance). In the case described below where it's coming from Jing, we would tend to import it into Camtasia and do a re-export. As far as free solutions, there's a whole bunch listed on this Techsmith forum: but I don't have any experience with any of them, and can't really say which might work out better for them.

Hi Paul,

Good question!

There doesn't seem to be a way to sort members other than using the search tool at the top, when you click View All (under the members mosaic). You are right in that they do not seem to appear in any logical order. Currently, we only have 3 pages of members to parse through, but as more are added I can see where it would be challenging to keep up.

I will investigate this further.

Is there a way to sort the members.  They appear in no particular order when I click view all under members.  This makes it hard to figure out who is and is not part of the membership.
