I have been a member of the Technology Services Department at Meredith College for almost 15 years. Presently, I serve in the role of Director for Instructional Design & Academic Technology. Our team is composed of 2 Instructional Designers, 1 Instructional Technology Specialist, and 2 Academic Technology Systems Specialists. Through consultation and support, we assist faculty with the design and development of their courses.
Our team offers a myriad of instructional technology support to faculty, staff, and students. Also, we are the primary trainers for the Brightspace LMS and the college’s intranet. As a representative for my Department, I serve as a member of the Campus Technology Committee and as an ex-officio member of the Faculty Development and Instructional Technology Committee.
I also serve as the Technology Liaison for Disability Services and serve on the college’s Disability Panel. In that role, I partner with faculty and administration to support our college’s efforts to promote Universal Design for Learning and encourage accessible course design. I believe that an essential component of F2F or online learning is the ability for any learner to access the information they need in a manner that they understand.
Over the past several years faculty at Meredith have ventured into the hybrid and blended teaching environment due to the demand for more online course options by our students. To that goal, we have developed a course for faculty who are interested in teaching online and those who have already begun their journey.
