I’m leading the curriculum committee for the Tech Savvy
Tech Savvy is a daylong science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) career conference designed to attract girls in sixth through ninth grade to these fields and ...
event that will take place at TC3 in Cortland, NY on April 9, 2016. We are seeking faculty who can lead a one hour workshop to provide curriculum and instruction for a hands on workshop that focuses on a STEM topic. The goal of this event is to develop interest, excitement and self-confidence in the STEM leaders of tomorrow. I’m attaching the flyer for the event as well as the workshop proposal. Please let me know if you are interested in doing a workshop or could suggest other people to contact. We are also seeking people to "host" tables for the college savvy event. Representatives from admissions, STEM departments, Society of Women Engineers and IT are examples of tables we had at last year's event.
Tech Savvy, powered by AAUW, is an exciting one day conference for girls in sixth to ninth grade focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is expanding this successful program nationally, with funding made possible by the [Alcoa Foundation] and the team of great women we have organizing the conference.
Tech Savvy builds on AAUW’s 2010 research report Why So Few? Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (http://www.aauw.org/research/why‐so‐few/), which demonstrates that girls benefit greatly from spending time with women STEM role models. Help us make this a great experience for girls in your community: please contact me by January 15 if you would like to be a part of Tech Savvy. We look forward to hearing from you!
